Downtown Siagon is about a 15 minute taxi ride, maybe a little longer in heavy traffic, if you need something close to airport, I can recommend the Omni Hotel, good gym and pool, about six minutes from airport.

As you would expect the controllers here don't speak anymore than ATC English, they won't allow you to depart until your ETD that you submit. The closest diversion field would be VDPP, VVCR, and then VVDN and Bangkok. Rainy season during the months of April through November, heavy showers will last about 15 minutes to 30 minutes maximum.
